Babysitter Extraordinaire

If I could be a full-time professional nanny for a celebrity, I would. I can't because my parents made it very clear that my obsession with babysitting could never turn into a career. I took a two year break from college after my freshman year and became a nanny. It was spiritually rejuvenating. I think babysitting and relating to kids is my skill. I wanted to become a babysitter after I got my hands on the first Babysitter's Club book. With almost 300 books in that series, my passion was fueled. I became certified in 8th grade taking a class and CPR. I've been babysitting ever since. It's allowed me to meet so many different families. I've babysat for the rich and the poor. For babies and for teenagers. For normal kids and for kids with special needs. For the most part babysitting is fun and games BUT it is HARD work. Safety of the children must always be your priority. So being CPR certified and knowing to administer the Heimlich maneuver as well what do when a kid is seizing are very important. Another key thing is listening to the desires of the parents. Kids will manipulate you into do what they want and eating what they like. You have to stay true to the parents desires without disappointing the children. I've picked up so many life skills from babysitting. Communication and creativity are essential in babysitting. They are also essential in writing. Every time you write, you are sending a message. You have to know your audience and you have to stay true to yourself. It takes creativity to navigate that line.

A 'lil Introduction

Hi I'm Diane. I'm incredibly curious by nature. I like to check things out and then I move on to check something else out. Sometimes I have a hard time differentiating what I really like. At the end of the day, I like simplicity. That's probably why I like shows like Criminal Minds, NCIS, Common Law, and Law and Order. I like their consistent formula and the new case each episode. I love to read. I can read anything unless it's really boring like a conceptual physics book. I love reading historical fiction, biographies, young adult novels and Christian literature. I LOVE Jodi Picoult. I think I'll end up reading every book she writes. When it comes to music my favorite genre is old school R&B. But I appreciate most styles. I like Eminen, Kings of Leon, Celine Dion, Micheal Buble, Jack Johnson, Iron & Wine, Ed Sheeran, Adele, Bjork, and everything basically. I'm not a die hard music downloader though. I just appreciate and move on so youtube and I are best friends.
In terms of research, I love looking for things and reading articles. My problem is the writing my own thoughts. I'm my own worst critic. I often encounter mental blocks that can be very destructive. I'm working on that. I've had to research for things like MUN, Mock Trial and most of my political science courses. I'm hoping for a breakthrough during this semester that will propel me to grad school. I want to study international relations. My dream job would be an ambassador to my motherland, Rwanda.
